Oregon, WI- An eleven race schedule awaits the ‘Stars and Cars’ of the ASA Midwest Tour during their 2024 campaign. The popular asphalt super late model series will visit four states beginning April 21 with the ‘Miracle on the High Banks’ at Slinger Super Speedway and ending with their 200-lap Championship event on Sunday afternoon October 6 at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway during the 55th annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend.
“This schedule includes great marquee events at the region’s marquee facilities.” Noted Midwest Tour Director Gregg McKarns. “The tradition of Super Late Model racing is alive and well in the Upper Midwest and we are looking forward to these great races in 2024 and beyond.”
The 2024 season will launch with the Midwest Tour battling Slinger’s Best Super Late Models during the third annual visit to the ‘World’s Fastest Quarter Mile’ as the ‘Stars and Cars’ look to finally wrestle the trophy away from the Slinger Champions during the track’s 77th season on Sunday afternoon April 21.
Three ASA Midwest Tour events will pay at least $15,000 to the winner, the first being the $15,000 to win Joe Shear Classic 200 at Madison International Speedway on Sunday afternoon May 5. The Midwest Tour will again visit Wisconsin International Raceway on the first Tuesday of August for the Gandrud Auto Group 250 on Tuesday night August 6, a race which also boasts a $15,000 winner’s share. The final ‘Big Money’ special of the season is the $15,555 to win Jim Sauter Classic 200 presented by Don’s Auto Center and Habelman Brothers at Dells Raceway Park, Saturday August 31 during Labor Day Weekend.
Memorial Day Weekend will again see the Midwest Tour Super Late Models headline the Salute the Troops 100 at ‘Wisconsin’s Action Track’ Jefferson Speedway on Saturday May 25. July will feature two races with roots in the short track racing scene for over forty years, the $5,000 to Win Wayne Carter Classic Saturday Night July 13 at Grundy County Speedway and State Park Speedway’s Larry Detjens Memorial on Saturday Night July 27. Following the Tuesday night tradition at WIR, August will once again showcase the beauty of Iowa’s Hawkeye Downs Saturday Night August 17 before a return visit to Madison International Speedway Friday Night August 23 for the $5,000 to Win Howie Lettow Classic. Following a six-year absence, Saturday September 21 will mark the return of the ‘Stars and Cars’ to Minnesota’s Elko Speedway for the Thunderstruck 93. For the eighteenth consecutive year, the Midwest Tour will crown its Champion on Sunday afternoon of the Oktoberfest Race Weekend at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway with a 200 lap, $10,000 to win feature event.
