Wisconsin Dells, WI – Only 45 points separate the top six in the Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA Midwest Tour presented by Five Star Race Car Bodies championship standings heading into the Jim Sauter Classic 200 presented by Habelman Brothers & Don’s Auto Truck Center this Saturday night at Dells Raceway Park in Wisconsin Dells, WI.
Penn Sauter will come into this event honoring his late grandfather with a six-point lead over Gandrud Auto Group 250 winner Justin Mondeik.
Sauter, as of press time, has not officially filed an entry. The team is hoping to have the car ready to compete this Saturday night.
Two-time ASAMT champion Gabe Sommers is only seven points behind the third-generation driver with three-time and defending series champion Casey Johnson sitting 17 points back in fourth.
Salute the Troops 100 and a Dells Alive for Five feature winner Paul Shafer Jr. is only 40 points back in fifth while Levon Van Der Geest is 45 points behind in sixth.
These six are just a small part of the star-studded field heading to the 1/3-mile oval this Labor Day weekend.
Joining the top six include five-time ASAMT and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Ty Majeski and recent Slinger Speedway Alan Kulwicki Memorial winner Luke Fenhaus.
Fenhaus has two victories in the Dells Alive for Five Series so far this season.
Tristan Swanson, defending Dells Icebreaker winner, has had consistent podium runs so far in 2026. He will also be looking for another victory in the Midwest Truck Series as well on Saturday night.
Former Joe Shear Classic winners Austin Nason and Andrew Morrissey will be looking for another crown jewel victory.
Recent Howie Lettow Classic winner Ty Fredrickson is gunning for his second victory in the ASA Midwest Tour this season.
Several super late model drivers are looking for a breakout performance this weekend. Those include Slinger Speedway hot shoe Nick Egan, former Falloween winner John DeAngelis, Bryce Miller is looking to better his seventh-place finish at the Grandrud Auto Group 250, Riley Stenjem is fresh off his fourth-place finish at the last ASAMT event at WIR, and 025 TUNDRA champions Jordan DeVoy and Kody King look to make waves this weekend.
Also joining the Jim Sauter Classic 200 entry list include: Jeff Storm, Jayden Johnson, Noah Eisenhower, Joseph Scholze, Mitch Haver, Trevor Vandermolen, and Weston Marthaler.
Entries are still rolling in for this Saturday night.
This will be the fifth running honoring the famous short track legend who has victories in ASA, ARTGO, and many more series across the country. Jim Sauter, along with Dick Trickle and Dave Marcis, were the drivers who set up the cars for the famous IROC series.
This year’s 200-lap feature will pay $10,005 to the winner with $1,005 to start. The Midwest Truck Series and 602 Late Models will also be in action.
Spectator gates open at 2 p.m. with qualifying at 4:30 p.m. Racing will get underway at 6 p.m.
