The Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA Midwest Tour presented by Five Star Bodies is taking another step in ensuring fair competition and technical consistency by implementing assigned MSD Ignition trays at all ASA Midwest Tour events for the 2026 season and moving forward.
Starting with the Jerry Preisgen Memorial at Slinger Speedway, all participating teams will be required to use series-issued MSD Ignition Boxes and coils mounted on a spec QuickCar tray. These units will be distributed to Crew Chiefs randomly prior to the first practice session for each event, and they will be required to practice, qualify, and race with that box. At the conclusion of each event, boxes will be turned in, much like the timing transponders. The goal with this program is to eliminate any uncertainty about competitors having a superior ignition system that might not be available to everyone. It is important to note that this program will require no cost to the racer which was a priority when developing this program on the ASA Midwest Tour side.
