Midwest Tour drivers head to DRP to claim a nice pay day and prepare for June 8th series event.

Several drivers from the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment and Lester Buildings will be competing at Dells Raceway Park this Saturday May 25th in the Cabin Fever 100. The drivers will be competing for a $2,000 payday for winning the race and a guaranteed $500 to start.
Aside from the chance to race for a bigger payday, the ARCA Midwest Tour drivers will be using this race as a practice session for their next event on the schedule which is June 8th. Some of the drivers are using this race to shake down their cars after having trouble at their recent races.
i-gogs Sunglasses Touring Star, Dan Fredrickson, who is fresh off his win last week in the World Wide Packaging 125 at State Park Speedway is one of several ARCA Midwest Tour drivers entered to race in the Cabin Fever 100.
ARCA Midwest Tour Rookie of the Year candidate, Dennis Prunty changed his mind often about his plans to race the Cabin Fever 100. Especially after suffering rear end damage at the race at State Park Speedway last week.
“The crew worked feverishly to fix the rear end and get it back in the car,” said Prunty. “I changed my mind and now we’ll be racing at DRP. Since the car has the exact same set up that we ran at State Park Speedway, we figured that should make it easier and save some time.”
Fellow Tour drivers Bobby Kendall and i-gogs Sunglasses Touring Star, Rich Bickle are also joining the field for the Cabin Fever 100.
For Bickle, it’s just another track but it is old school.
“They’re all asphalt, they all got curves. Like they say once you’ve been there and done it, it’s time to go do it again,” said Bickle. “People say you can’t pass on the outside (at DRP), but I always have and always think you can.”
Travis Sauter won almost everywhere he raced in 2012, and kicked off his 2013 season right where he left off in 2012. He captured his seventh straight feature win at Madison International Speedway in winning the 5th annual Joe Shear Classic. While Sauter hasn’t raced at DRP since 2010, he has called it one of his better tracks.
Other ARCA Midwest Tour drivers have entered the Cabin Fever 100 as well. i-gogs Sunglasses Touring Star, Andrew Morrissey, Vita Ice Touring Star, Jeremy Miller, and i-gogs Sunglasses Touring Star, Jeff Storm, are set to compete, as well as Tim Schendel, who won the last tour event held at DRP back in 2010. It is Schendel’s first time back in the cockpit in a while after helping 2012 ARCA Midwest Tour Rookie of the Year Matt Tifft in his endeavors at racing at higher levels.
Practice for the Cabin Fever 100 gets underway at 2pm on May 25th. Qualifying will begin at 5pm with racing beginning at 7pm. Joining the Super Late Models at DRP will be the local Late Models, Sportsman, and Bandits.
Tickets are reasonably priced at $15 for adults 16 and up, $13 for Seniors, $10 for Students 10-15, $5 for Kids 5-9, and free admission for kids 4 an under.
