MIS-SITE

By Kari Shear-Carlson
August 12, 2013 – The ARCA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment and Lester Buildings returned to Madison International Speedway this past Sunday afternoon for the Border Wars Part 2. With the threat of rain all day, it was questionable if the event would be run to completion, but the rain held off and history was made. Travis Sauter took home the checkered flag making it his tenth consecutive super late model win at MIS.

TRAVIS SAUTER CONTINUES TO MAKE HISTORY

Dennis Prunty and Ross Kenseth led the field to the green and put on a good show for a while. As the field settled in it was Travis Sauter’s time to shine…again. At the half-way break, DOC 360 Touring Star Chris Wimmer was leading the way with Sauter in second.

There was a little scare just as the 12-minute clock started at the break as the rain just randomly decided to fall from the clouds. It lasted for less than a minute and things were back on course.

Wimmer and Sauter put on a great fight as the second half got started, but in the end it was Sauter yet again in victory lane. It wasn’t quite as easy this time around.

“I don’t know about him (second place) but there’s nothing left of my car (handling). I’m really glad this one is over.”

Vita Ice Touring Star Skylar Holzhausen was second followed by i-gogs Sunglasses Touring Star Dan Fredrickson in third. Chris Wimmer fell back to fifth behind DOC 360 Touring Star Nathan Haseleu.

After winning the JRI Shocks Fast Dash of the top 16 qualifiers, Rookie of the Year contender Dennis Prunty led the field to the green of the 150 lap event.

Spiked Island Touring Star Jacob Goede won the Hedman Hedders Qualifier and lined up just behind the the top 16 in qualifying and ahead of the remainder of the field.

JEREMY MILLER EARNS HIS FIRST ARCAMT FAST QUALIFIER AWARD

Vita Ice Touring Star Jeremy Miller captured his first ever ARCA Midwest Tour Fast Qualifier Award. Miller’s time of 17.368 bested second place Dan Fredrickson with a 17.410. i-gogs Sunglasses Touring Star Andrew Morrissey was right behind Fredricskon with a 17.412.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR BATTLE CONTINUES

Fast qualifier Jeremy Miller was the highest finishing Rookie of the Year contender in the field. Miller finished in the 10th position with Spiked Island Touring Star James Swan behind him in 11th. James Swan still leads the tight ROY points standings with 1098, only 13 over Dennis Prunty with 1085. Jeremy Miller is in third with 1043 points.

FREDRICKSON CONTINUES TO HOLD HIS POINTS LEAD

With his third place finish, Dan Fredrickson continues to lead the points battle with 1309 points. Chris Wimmer is only 30 points back with 1279. The two of them have finished within a few positions of one another in almost every event. DOC 360 Touring Star Nathan Haseleu is still sitting in contention only 85 points behind with 1224.

CHESTER ACE FINDS VICTORY LANE IN THE TRUCK TOUR

Chester Ace and Jerry Wood put on a great battle to the finish in the Scag Midwest Truck Tour 30-lap event. Ace played his cards right and took home the win, his first of the season.

John Wood was able to get by his brother (Jerry) for second while Andy Jones and Camden Murphy rounded out the top five.

Jerry Wood continues to lead the point battle with 960 over John Wood with 903. Natalie Decker is in third with 890 points.
