The ARCA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment and Lester Buildings wrapped up their 100 lapper at Marshfield Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 29th, with Vita Ice Touring Star Skylar Holzhausen mowing down the competition.
Marshfield Win Redemption For Holzhausen
After coming so close to capturing the checkers in last year’s event at Marshfield Motor Speedway, Skylar Holzhausen definitely felt redemption by taking the victory in this year’s event. Holzhausen battled with Team i-gogs Sunglasses Touring Star Dan Fredrickson over the final half of the race before pulling away to the victory. Holzhausen led the final forty three laps en route to his second career feature win.
Skylar Sets The Pace In Qualifying
Skylar Holzhausen started off his day of dominance by setting fast time during the qualifying session. Holzhausen was the only driver out of the twenty nine that attempted a qualifying run to run a lap in the 17 second bracket. Holzhausen’s time of 17.980 bested the time of DOC 360 Touring Star Nathan Haseleu, who ran a lap at 18.035. It took a lap of 18.256 to crack the top 16, and Joel Theisen was the driver to set that time.
Touring Stars Snag Top Five Finishing Positions
The Touring Stars rose to the top of the charts in the Marshfield 100. The top five were rounded out by Team i-gogs Sunglasses Touring Star Rich Bickle in third and DOC 360 Touring Star Chris Wimmer in fourth. Team i-gogs Sunglasses Touring Star and defending champion Jonathan Eilen brought it home in fifth.
Prunty Takes Over Rookie Points Lead
Dennis Prunty’s eleventh place finish was strong enough to take over the rookie points lead. Prunty holds a slim two point lead over fellow rookie Bobby Kendall, 686-684. Team Spiked Island Touring Star James Swan fell to third, but is just three points behind Prunty at 683. Nick Barstad is fourth with 672, and Team Vita Ice Touring Star Jeremy Miller rounds out the top five with 630.
Fredrickson Maintains Championship Points Lead
Dan Fredrickson couldn’t quite notch his third consecutive ARCA Midwest Tour victory, but his second place finish increased his points lead to fifty over Chris Wimmer. Fredrickson has 830 to Wimmer’s 780. Skylar Holzhausen’s win moved him into third in the standings with 773. Nathan Haseleu is in fourth at 758. Team Spiked Island Touring Star Jacob Goede rounds out the top five at 743.
ARCA Fest At The Milwaukee Mile Is The Next Stop For The Tour
The Swiss Colony Howie Lettow Memorial 150 presented by RaceTeamGear.com is the next event on the ARCA Midwest Tour calendar. The second annual event at the Milwaukee Mile is set for Monday July 8th and Tuesday July 9th. There are already 80 drivers on the entry list including NASCAR stars Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch, Johnny Sauter, David Ragan, David Stremme, Kenny and Steve Wallace, and Joe Nemechek.
Matt Kenseth and Joe Nemechek will also be competing with and against their sons, as Ross Kenseth and John Hunter Nemechek join the rest of the best drivers from across the country.
