The ARCA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment and Lester Buildings held their second of two events at the Marshfield Motor Speedway this season where veteran Steve Holzhausen capitalized on a late race yellow to capture his first career victory in the series. Team i-gogs Sunglasses Touring Star Dan Fredrickson seemingly had the race under control before the yellow flew for a spin by Team Spiked Island Touring Star Jacob Goede with just fourteen laps remaining.

Steve Holzhausen restarted on the outside of Fredrickson and took advantage of Fredrickson’s bobble in turn one on the restart and cleared for the lead off of turn two. Another yellow just two laps later gave Fredrickson a chance to redeem himself, however Holzhausen was up to the challenge and cleared again for the lead.

Bickle Brings Home His Best Finish of the Season

Team i-gogs Sunglasses Touring Star Rich Bickle, making his farewell appearance at Marshfield Motor Speedway won the Fast Dash to start the feature on the pole, but dropped back as far as twelfth place before making a valiant comeback. Aided by the first of two late yellows, Bickle managed to work his way up towards the front. After the second yellow, Bickle made his way to the second position where he wound up a close second to Steve Holzhausen. Team Vita Ice Touring Star Skylar, son of race winner Steve Holzhausen, backed up his win in the first Marshfield race of 2013 with a third place finish in this event.

Majeski Captures VDL Fuel Systems Fast Time Award

Nineteen year old Ty Majeski won his first career fast time award with a lap of 18.141 around the progressively banked half mile. Majeski piloted a car owned by Mark Kraus, a former regular ARCA Midwest Tour competitor. Majeski’s strong run held off Steve Holzhausen’s bid for the pole by a mere .028 seconds.

Fredrickson Extends His Points Lead Over Wimmer And Haseleu

While a seemingly sure win may have escaped Dan Fredrickson, with his fifth place finish he was able to extend his lead in the points over a pair of Team DOC 360 Touring Stars. Chris Wimmer maintained his second place in the points race despite struggling at Marshfield. Wimmer was lapped just past the halfway mark and would wind up finishing in the sixteenth spot. Nathan Haseleu ran up in the top five most of the race before fading late in the event. Haseleu would wind up finishing eleventh. Fredrickson has 1,599 points leading Wimmer by 56 points. Haseleu remains in third place, 82 points behind.

Prunty Gains Ground On Swan In Rookie Battle

Dennis Prunty was poised to take a big chunk out of Team Spiked Island Touring Star James Swan’s point lead, before engine problems late in the race dropped Prunty down to a twelfth place finish. Prunty had been running in the top ten throughout the race when the engine problems slowed him down late in the going. Swan struggled all throughout the race and wound up in seventeenth. Team Vita Ice Touring Star Jeremy Miller fared the best of the rookie trio by ending up with a fourth place finish. Miller was battling for the lead before being shuffled back a bit on the late restarts. Swan still leads Prunty by thirteen points, 1,351-1,338. Miller gained a little ground on Swan but is still forty five points back at 1,306.
