Salem, Indiana (July 11, 2021): 12-year-old Austin, Indiana native Kaden White picked up his first ever Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models feature win Saturday evening, in the series first ever event at Angola Motor Speedway. The feature win came in White’s fourth ever feature in a late model and fourth feature with the series.
The Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models is in their third season focusing on a youth movement for short track stock car racing that saw 10 to 15-year-old drivers compete amongst themselves for both experience and recognition in full size late models with an economical drive train and suspension alternatives.
White started off by being the Fast Qualifier, then used his pole starting position to lead all eight laps in getting his third heat race win of the season.
White would get the jump on the start of the feature over 12-year-old Proctorville, Ohio racer Carson Lucas who started on the pole. White would continue to lead as Lucas looked for a way around White, working hard to get his third series feature win of the season. Lucas was glued to White’s bumper in the waning laps before Lucas would spin just after the leader took the white flag, bringing out the events only yellow and setting up a green, white checker finish.
White would keep the lead on the last restart and would go on to hold off the hard charging Lucas to get the win with Lucas right on his bumper.
“It feels really good to get my first feature win with this series,” remarked White in victory lane. “I had never been to this track before until today, wasn’t sure what to expect, this is the biggest track we’ve raced on so far, but I got comfortable pretty quick in practice. I knew Carson was right on my bumper there, I just tried to hit my marks and not make any mistakes. It is great to get this win after I spun out leading at Flat Rock last race. I want to thank my family, my crew and my sponsors for all their support, I couldn’t do this without them!”
