Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Model Series Ready for Anderson Speedway Saturday

Salem, Indiana (June 12, 2019): The newest series sanctioned by Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS, the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models, will have their second event of their inaugural 2019 season this Saturday at Anderson Speedway, located in Anderson, Indiana. The fast ¼ mile track at Anderson has hosted more CRA events since 1997 than any other track.

The Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models is a new racing series in 2019 to focus on a youth movement for short track stock car racing that will see 10 to 15-year-old drivers compete amongst themselves for both experience and recognition in full size late models with an economical drive train and suspension alternatives. Saturday’s race will be the second of eight scheduled races for the series in 2019.

Some of the key components for the rule package for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models will be the mandated use of the $3900 factory sealed Chevrolet Performance 602 crate engine. Teams will also be utilizing less expensive rear ends, transmissions and springs and spec KONI Shocks. The series will also be racing on 8-inch steel wheels and utilizing 8-inch Hoosier Racing tires.

12-year-old Luke Wilhelm from Clio, Michigan, came away with the victory in the inaugural 25 lap feature for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models on May 18th at Birch Run Speedway.14-year-old Chase Burda, the first ever MPM Marketing Fast Qualifier Award for the series at Birch Run, finished in second in the feature after winning the fast heat. 11-year-old Katelyn Hettinger, who won one of the 8 lap heat races at Birch Run, finished in third in the feature.

Luke Wilhelm leads the series Championship points standings after one event. Burda is in second, one point behind Wilhelm. Hettinger is in third place, three points behind Burda. Evan Varney is in fourth place, four points behind Hettinger. Jonathan Shafer is in fifth place, four points behind Varney.

There will be an optional open practice at Anderson Speedway on Friday, pits open at 4pm with open practice from 5 to 8pm. On Saturday, pit gates open at 3:30pm. Practice will begin at 5pm with qualifying beginning at 6:30pm. The race program is set to begin at 8pm and will include the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models 8 lap heat races and 25 lap feature presented by Star Financial and AERCO Heating and Cooling. Also racing that night will be the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks in their 200 lap Four Crown event, as well as Legends and the Anderson Figure 8’s.
