Veteran Driver Tim Sauter May Be the One to Beat in the Cabin Fever 100 at State Park Speedway

May 13, 2015 – The 2014 winner of the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment race at State Park Speedway in Wausau, WI will return this Saturday, May 16th for the Cabin Fever 100 to defend his victory and look to make it two in a row.

When it came to big races at State Park Speedway in 2014, there was only one name to be found in victory lane, Tim Sauter. Sauter won his first ever ARCA Midwest Tour event at the track and also became the first driver to ever sweep the three big races held by the track each year, the Flip Merwin Memorial, the Larry Detjens Memorial, and the Lodi Memorial.

“We did what we wanted to do by winning all four of those events last year. The Midwest Tour race was really important. It was a good feeling,” said Sauter.

It was evident that Sauter was going to be tough in last year’s event after he turned the fastest lap in qualifying. In the 125 lap event he moved through the field and once he got to the front he appeared to be on cruise control. It was a huge victory for Sauter as his first ARCA Midwest Tour win.

“In this day and age, the ARCA Midwest Tour is the most competitive in the Midwest, or maybe even the whole country, so anytime you can run in the top five, you’re doing something,” added Sauter.

This year he hopes to be just as dominant and keep his “big race” streak alive. He will be going up against the best of the best not only in the Tour, but the locals who are always just as strong.

“The competition is changing so fast. I know all the guys are working hard, and I know from the beginning to the end of last year they got closer and a few have definitely improved. We’re trying to get better, too.”

Sauter has raced against both the locals and Touring Stars for many years, so it will be nothing new for the veteran. Considering his success at the track last year, he may just be the one to beat again in 2015.

Qualifying for this Saturday’s Cabin Fever 100 is scheduled for 4:00pm with racing to follow at 6:00pm.
