Aug 28, 2014 – As the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment hits the downward swing of the season, we are going to check-in with all the Touring Stars leading up to the final race of the year at La Crosse Speedway. For the first installment of Touring Stars Tune-up – the Road to Oktoberfest, we feature Joel Theisen.
The 2014 campaign didn’t go exactly as Theisen had planned. A tough start to the year, including a wreck and two major motor problems, dashed Theisen’s hopes for racing the full ARCA Midwest Tour schedule. After having to rent a motor for the races at Milwaukee and Wisconsin Dells, he took some time to reevaluate. “We wanted to step back and put a newer Lefthander together and work with a different engine combination to improve our results,” says Theisen.
Theisen plans to return to the Tour schedule when it visits Elko Speedway on September 20th, a track where he has some extra experience. “I have not raced there all year, but have a couple feature wins in the past and look forward to it,” says Theisen, “I think our best moment of the year is going to happen at Elko. We feel we can run up front there and we are bringing over 100 people from our company, Lifesprk.”
With just two races left on the schedule, Theisen sets his sights on good runs at Elko Speedway and La Crosse Speedway, hoping his new car and motor combination will help him achieve just that. “We know many people have been switching over to the new sealed motors and I think we are about one of a handful of guys who were still running a 9:1. By changing our chassis to mirror Donny Reuvers, as well as put in a sealed motor, we think we will be competitive,” says Theisen, “The ultimate goal is to have a great run at the Fest.”
We will continue to check-in with our Touring Stars in the weeks leading up to Oktoberfest and will finish the Touring Start Tune-up with Ty Majeski and Nathan Haseleu and the tight point battle to be decided at the final event.
