Expected Entry List Revealed for the Dairyland 100
A busy August schedule continues for the ARCA Midwest Tour as the series will be making their second ever appearance at Golden Sands Speedway, located between Wisconsin Rapids and Plover, WI, this Saturday night, August 18th, for the Dairyland 100.
25 entries have already been filed and will be coming the high-banked, one third-mile oval built by the late Sam Bartus. The track is well known for great side-by-side racing and could be a pivotal race towards awarding the 2018 champion later this year at the Oktoberfest Race Weekend.
Coming into this Saturday night, the top-five is only separated by 53 points.
Austin Nason, the only two-time winner so far this season, will come to Golden Sands after a seventh-place finish in the Dixieland 250. He holds a 21-point lead over Casey Johnson in the standings.
Defending Dairyland 100 winner Dalton Zehr is currently third in points and is only 28 points behind Nason. Paul Shafer Jr, who picked up his first ARCAMT victory at Jefferson Speedway earlier this year, is fourth in the standings and is 32 points behind the leader.
Andrew Morrissey, who won at State Park Speedway and finished fourth in the Dixieland 250, is fifth only 53 points back.
The top-five will be at Golden Sands along with the other top-ten in the point standings. Former Champion and recent Dells Raceway Park winner Jonathan Eilen, John DeAngelis who finished fifth in the Dixieland 250, Billy Mohn has one podium finish so far this year and is the leading rookie contender so far in 2018, and short track legend Rich Bickle Jr.
Justin Mondeik is currently 10th in points and has been winning races in central Wisconsin and is currently on top of the standings in the Kulwicki Driver Development Program.
Other rookie contenders will be on hand this Saturday night. John Beale, who recently won a Super Late Model race at Jefferson Speedway, Jeff Holmgren Jr. Ryan Farrell and Dillon Hammond.
Former ARCAMT Oktoberfest winner Travis Sauter has filed an entry along with Chris and Jason Weinkauf. Derek Kraus, who has two wins so far this season in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, will be making his third ARCAMT start this season.
Some of the top Central Wisconsin hot shoes have entered to challenge the Touring Stars this Saturday night.
Current Midwest Truck Series point leader Luke Fenhaus will get behind a Super Late Model at Golden Sands. Dean LaPointe, MG Gajewski, and local favorite Gabe Sommers are also entered for the Dairyland 100.
Adam Paschek, Curt Tillman, and Matt Kocourek are hoping to pick up an ARCAMT victory on Saturday night.
Spectator gates will open at 5pm with qualifying at 5:30pm. Racing will get underway at 7pm. The Mid-American Stock Car Series and Modifieds will also be in action.
Adult tickets are $20, Seniors 65 & up are $18, kids ages 6-12 are $5 and kids 5 and under are free.
