(Morris, IL) – ASA Midwest Tour officials announced the addition of three rising star drivers who have entered this Saturday’s Wayne Carter Classic 100 presented by Rod Baker Ford & D’Arcy Chevrolet.
One is the 2024 ASA Midwest Tour Rookie of the Year, another is the defending Jim Sauter Classic winner, and the third is the grandson of Jim Sauter.
Ty Fredrickson, 2024 ASAMT Rookie of the Year, will make his Wayne Carter Classic debut after a strong showing at the recent Gandrud Auto Group 250 event at Wisconsin International Raceway. The 15-year-old led more than half of the event until being involved in a late caution that relegated him to a 13th-place finish. The son of three-time ASAMT champion Dan Fredrickson is also the 2024 TUNDRA series champion.
Max Kahler is no stranger to Grundy County Speedway as he won a feature event last season. He also made waves when he won the Jim Sauter Classic 200 at Dells Raceway Park in Wisconsin Dells, WI. This will be his third start in the Wayne Carter Classic and will be looking to improve on his previous starts, where his best finish is 14th in 2022.
In 1982, Jim Sauter won his only Wayne Carter Classic. 38 years later, his grandson Penn Sauter hopes to add his name to the record books. The 15-year-old is in his second year competing in Super Late Models after success in Bandoleros. In his first six starts in the ASAMT, he has two top-ten finishes with the latest being an eighth-place finish in the Miller 100 at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, IA.

The Wayne Carter Classic honors Wayne Carter, who brought auto racing to the Grundy County area. Since 1975, when Art Frigo and John McKarns formed ARTGO Racing and began this event, the goal was to bring the top Wisconsin and Midwest drivers into Chicagoland to take on the top local talent. Just as it was 50 years ago, this Saturday night’s contest will continue the rich tradition of the Wayne Carter Classic.
