Two Series Will do Battle on Monday, May 25th at Illiana Motor Speedway

May 22, 2015 – The ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment Calypso Chicagoland Showdown at Illiana Motor Speedway this Monday, May 25th, is going to be unique in a variety of ways. Not only will the Tour be joined by the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS, and other Chicagoland area drivers, but the format of the day’s event will be a new experience for drivers and fans alike.
When fans come to an ARCA Midwest Tour event, the expectation is typically qualifying, heat and qualifying races, and a feature. This Monday will be a little different. Fans will still experience the anticipation of qualifying and the excitement of feature racing, but with a little twist.
With the combination of the two series, a true Showdown was in order. The event will consist of three 50-lap features. Two points-based features and a 50-lap combined Finale.
Both series will qualify together. In a coin toss type theory, the fast qualifier will then have the option to choose whether the ARCA Midwest Tour 50-lap point feature will run first or the ARCA/CRA Super Series 50-lap point feature will run first. Each of those races will be points races for the respective series.
The top 12 from each of those two races, along with six provisionals, will advance to the Showdown Finale 50-lap feature event where all of the drivers will be gunning for the victory to decide who will take home the $5000 to win and the Tommy Gun Trophy to go along with it.
Fans are not going to want to miss this unique event, as drivers from all over the Midwest will be in the fight to show who will be the best of the best in true Showdown format.
Qualifying will begin at 12:15pm followed by an autograph session at 1:30pm. The green flag will drop at 2:30pm. For complete event details, log on to arcamidwesttour.com.
