By Kari Shear-Carlson
July 5, 2012 – Registered drivers in the ASA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment and Lester Buildings are racing for the opportunity of a lifetime, a chance to receive a test in a Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR K&N Pro Series car at the conclusion of the 2012 season. Sunoco and Joe Gibbs Racing partnered up to form the Sunoco Driven Challenge.

Five grassroots racing series drivers are competing in a uniquely developed points system for a chance to test with one of NASCAR’s top teams. But there will only be one overall winner out of the five series competing. As of July 2nd, Jonathan Eilen is eighth in the overall point standings and leads the ASA Midwest Tour drivers who are entered. Travis Sauter is tenth overall only two points behind Eilen.

The mid-season awards for the challenge will be given to the point leader in each of the five series. The ASA Midwest Tour will present the mid-season award after the August 5th, 100 lap event at Madison International Speedway. The driver of each eligible series in the Sunoco Driven Challenge will be awarded a $500 product certificate from Joe Gibbs Driven and a $500 product certificate from Sunoco Race Fuels.

The Sunoco Driven Challenge is not just for drivers. One lucky fan and guest will have the opportunity to take part in the overall winner’s experience. He or she will receive an all expenses paid trip to Charlotte, NC. The lucky fan and guest will get a tour of the Joe Gibbs Racing race shop, meet Joe Gibbs, and attend the winning driver’s test session. Additional prizes will also include Joe Gibbs Driven oil products, Sunoco fuel, and the chance to attend a driving school. To enter for a chance to win go to www.sunocodrivenchallenge.com
