Drivers from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Florida and now Arkansas will be represented this weekend at the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment’s return to Jefferson Speedway this Saturday.
The Jefferson, Wisconsin quarter-mile oval will welcome the Stars and Cars this Saturday night for the ‘Salute the Troops 100.’ Qualifying will get underway at 5pm followed by an autograph session with racing starting at 7pm.
One the latest drivers to enter is Cole Rouse from Fort Smith, Arkansas. Rouse, who drives Super Late Models part-time for Kyle Busch Motorsports, will make his ARCA Midwest Tour debut this Saturday night driving a Super Late Model prepared by Justin Oertel.
Rouse and Oertel teamed up last weekend for a seven place finish at the Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway. The two discussed running with the Stars and Cars of the ARCA Midwest Tour and sealed the deal on Tuesday in what they hope will be the first of many starts in the tour this season.
“Justin Oertel approached me at Bristol about driving his car in the ARCA Midwest Tour this weekend at Jefferson Speedway and I said yeah let’s do it,” Rouse exclaimed. “I have always followed the tour and been hoping to compete in it, so we are going to do that this weekend. I am hoping this is the first of many with Justin and the tour.”
Last year, Rouse competed in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West where he had four top-five and 12 top-ten finishes in 14 starts. He is more focused on racing in as many Super Late Model events as he can in 2017.
“I am always eager to get more seat time when I am not driving a Kyle Busch Motorsports Late Model,” Rouse said. “I have always heard about the tough competition in the Midwest, and I am hoping to go up there and prove my skills and learn as well.”
