Short Track Success Shines with these ARCAMT Touring Stars

The ARCA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment’s Touring Star program was designed to help promote upcoming events by guaranteeing that some of today’s “Stars & Cars” will be competing at the best short track events in the upper Midwest this season.

These four names join the eight previously announced stars for the upcoming season which starts this Sunday afternoon with the 10th Annual Joe Shear Classic at Madison international Speedway in Oregon, Wisconsin.

The Touring Star program has over $60,000 in Touring Star bonuses, travel incentives and point fund this season in addition to over $40,000 in product certificates from their supporting contingency partners, making this Tour the most prestigious Super Late Model tour in the upper Midwest.

These four drivers are all champions, all four have won major short track racing events, and two of the four are past winners of the Joe Shear Classic.

Ty Majeski is the defending three-time champion of the ARCA Midwest Tour. His impressive racing resume includes being the first driver to win the Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway in Opp, Alabama back-to-back, and the 2016 World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Coming into the 2017 season, he ranks second on the ARCAMT wins list with 13 victories and leads the Fast Qualifier all-time list with 15. So far in 38 ARCAMT starts, he has 13 victories, 15 fast qualifier awards, 22 top-five’s and 24 top-ten finishes. His 2017 schedule will include the ARCA Midwest Tour and various starts in the ARCA Racing Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Dan Fredrickson returns to the ARCA Midwest Tour full-time in 2017 and will be looking for a record tying third title. The 2008 & 2013 ARCAMT champion has the most victories in the Tour with 16 wins. He is a four-time winner of the Thunderstruck 93 at Elko Speedway in Elko, Minnesota, along with being a four-time winner of the Oktoberfest 200 and a three-time winner of the Dick Trickle 99 during the Oktoberfest Race Weekend at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin.

Rich Bickle Jr. returns to ARCA Midwest Tour competition after taking some time off behind the wheel. Bickle is the only five-time winner of the Snowball Derby and has won many feature events around the country including 17 wins at Madison International Speedway. He has six victories in the ARTGO Challenge Series and three victories in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He also has 85 starts in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series with one top-five and three top-ten finishes. He is also a two-time winner of the National Short Track Championship at Rockford Speedway in Loves Park, Illinois and has also won at the Oktoberfest Race Weekend at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin. He has 20 starts in the ARCA Midwest Tour with seven top-five and eight top-ten finishes.

Ricky Baker comes into the 2017 season as the defending Bettenhausen Memorial winner this past September. The Plainfield, Illinois driver is a two-time Grundy County Speedway (Morris, IL) track champion and is one of the top drivers in the greater Chicagoland area. He only victory in the ARCA Midwest Tour so far came during the Chicagoland Showdown at Illiana Motor Speedway (Schererville, IN) in 2015. In his 22 previous ARCAMT starts he has one win with four top-five’s and 11 top-ten finishes.

These four drivers will join more soon to be announced Touring Stars for the 2017 season that will have 12 events throughout Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Spectator gates for the 10th Annual Joe Shear Classic at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, Wisconsin will open at 11:30am on Sunday, May 7th, racing begins at 2pm.

The afternoon will also feature a post qualifying fan autograph session in the new Turn 4 Party Pavilion.

Adult general admission tickets are $25. Whelen Heroes, Seniors and Students (ages 12-17) $22, Kids (6-11) $10 with Children (5 & under) Free. Family pricing is also available for $60 which includes up to two adults and up to four admissions for those ages 17 & under.
