Oregon, WI- The region’s best Super Late Model drivers return to Jefferson Speedway this Saturday Night (May 24, 2025) for the ASA Midwest Tour ‘Salute the Troops 100’. Former Salute the Troops winners Casey Johnson and Paul Shafer, Jr will lead the charge into ‘Wisconsin’s Action Track’ this Saturday. Three-time Midwest Tour and Jefferson Speedway Champion Casey Johnson looks to defend his home turf, where he has won six Wisconsin State Championships. Johnson is fresh off his Joe Shear Classic 200 win, catapulting him into the early season Midwest Tour point lead. Chicagoland Champion Paul Shafer, Jr returns to the site of his first Tour triumph, a track that also saw him finish second two years ago. Early reports are that the Portage, IN pilot has his #7 dialed in for Saturday night’s showdown.
All told, Saturday night will feature drivers from five states. Drivers to watch include two-time defending Midwest Tour Champion Gabe Sommers, Jim Sauter Classic winner Max Kahler, Chicagoland and ARTGO Champion Eddie Hoffman , Elko Tour winner Justin Mondeik, Super Late Model standout Ryan Farrell, 2024 Salute the Troops Fast Qualifier and Runner-Up Levon VanDerGeest, former Wisconsin State Championship winner Riley Stenjem, Late Model winner Joseph Scholze, 2022 Icebreaker victor Jordan Devoy, Central Wisconsin Champion John Beale as well as three-time and defending Jefferson Speedway Champion Shaun Scheel.
The youth movement will be on display Saturday night at Jefferson Speedway. A mix of those with experience at the tricky quarter-mile paved oval and those without will be peppered throughout the field. Young challengers include Big 8 Series and Tundra Rookie of the Year Mitch Haver, 2022 Hawkeye Downs Champ Kody King, Midwest Truck and Late Model Stock Winner Joe Valento, 2023 Hawkeye Champion and Jefferson front runner Bryce Miller, 2023 Wisconsin Bandolero and weekly Late Model winner Penn Sauter, Minnesota’s Ridge Oien a weekly Late winner at LaCrosse, Jevin Guralski who finished second in his Tour debut, past Motorcycle and Go-Kart Champion Jeremy Bentz, hometown hero and Jefferson Late Model winner Shane Radtke, Jr and Grundy County Speedway Super Late winner Clay Curts.
