Miller 100 and ASA Return to Hawkeye Downs this Saturday Night

Cedar Rapids, IA – The ‘Stars and Cars’ of the ASA Midwest Tour return to Hawkeye Downs this Saturday Night July 12, 2025 for the return of the ‘Miller 100’ presented by Van Meter. Saturday night marks the 40th running of the ‘Miller 100’. Two-time defending Hawkeye Winner and Midwest Tour Champion Gabe Sommers will lead the charge against the likes of current Tour Point Leader and three-time Champion Casey Johnson plus Super Late Model standouts Levon VanDerGeest and Justin Mondeik.

A pair of Hawkeyes will look to defend their home turf. Clear Lake’s Kody King, who captured the Hawkeye Downs track title in 2022 is currently second in Midwest Tour Rookie Point Standings and posted an impressive fifth place effort during the Tour’s 2024 visit to his home track. He will be joined by former Big Ten and NCAA National Wrestling Champion Mark Ironside who will pilot his black and gold #10 Super Late Model around the half-mile speedway which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this season.

Former CARS Tour competitor and Midwest Truck Series winner Joe Valento is amongst the young guns on the Midwest Tour looking for his breakthrough win. Bryce Miller, the Wisconsin native currently enrolled in the Kulwicki Driver Development Program, returns to Hawkeye Downs where he was crowned the 2023 Late Model Champion. Miller trails King and Rookie point leader Mitch Haver in the Rookie race which also includes third-generation driver Penn Sauter who will be making his first appearance at Hawkeye Downs.

Fresh off a fourth place effort at Elko Speedway in his inaugural ARCA Menards Series start, Ty Fredrickson returns to Hawkeye Downs after a fourth place showing last year. Likewise, Wisconsin Champion John Beale will be one to watch as he was the fast qualifier and trailed Gabe Sommers to the line by less than .200 seconds a year ago. Riley Stenjem, a former Tundra Series Champion was the runner-up two years ago and Brent Edmunds returns to Iowa having three weekly victories under his belt this season at Madison International Speedway including the ‘Star Spangled 76’.

The 2022 NASCAR Colorado State Champion and former Colorado National Champion Cody Dempser will make the trip from Parker, CO for Saturday night’s Miller 100. Other notable entries include CWRA winner Harley Jankowski, Chicagoland Super Late Model winner Clay Curts, weekly winners Michael Haggar, Joseph Scholze and Ridge Oien.
