ARCA Midwest Tour Returns to Norway Speedway, Friday, August 15th

August 12, 2014 – When Johnny Sauter goes short track racing, he has one thing on his mind…to win. He has no other reason for being there. On Saturday night he did just that, claiming victory in the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment Calypso Lemonade 100 presented by Scag Power Equipment.
Once Johnny grabbed the lead from his nephew Travis Sauter on lap 22, he set the pace and never looked back. The Sauter family grew up at Wisconsin International Raceway, so it was no surprise to see the family name finish one and two.
Ty Majeski and Nathan Haseleu still had a points battle to sort out going into the event. Majeski turned the fastest lap of the day with at 19.296 earning yet again the VDL Fuel Systems Fast Qualifier Award. Haseleu was fourth in qualifying with a 19.359, this giving Majeski a slight lead as the night got started. The two finished third in their respective heat races keeping that slight advantage on Majeski’s side.
When it came to feature time, the two started side-by-side, but Haseleu got the advantage jumping into the fourth spot while Majeski was sorting it out back in sixth for several laps before he was able to catch the top four. So once again the two were racing side-by-side. Just as Majeski got around Nathan, mechanical problems forced Haseleu to head to the pits, ending his night.
It looked as though Majeski would have the upper hand in the point standings with Nathan now out of the race and him running in the third position. However as they say, don’t count your chickens before they hatch. It wasn’t too much later, that Majeski had mechanical problems ending his night as well.
Mr. Consistency, Jonathan Eilen, was the highest finishing Touring Star breaking into the top three at the end of the race giving him a solid third place standing in the points battle as well.
So as the ARCA Midwest Tour rolls into Norway Speedway on this Friday, August 15th, it will once again be anyone’s game. Majeski only leads Haseleu by a marginal seven points, and Jonathan Eilen isn’t out of the game just yet either.
Nathan Haseleu won the event at Norway Speedway last year after fighting off a strong charge by Dalton Zehr and is confident going into this Friday’s event. The Norway 100 will be the first of the final three events of the season and lead into a one month break before the Tour heads to Elko Speedway on September 20th.
