Hometown Heroes Past and Present Fill the Field for the Mid-Summer Showdown at Marshfield Motor Speedway

by Kari Shear-Carlson / August 9, 2016 – This Saturday night the Stars and Cars of the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment will invade Central Wisconsin at Marshfield Motor Speedway for the Mid-Summer Showdown. There are currently 22 drivers entered for the 100 lap event. The ARCAMT will be joined by the Mid-American Stock Car Series and the X-Treme 4’s for a full night of action packed racing.

This event historically creates a diverse field of veterans, hot-shoes, and a little family bonding on the track. Not only will the field contain current local drivers, but it is also home to many of the ARCAMT Stars and Cars who will bring a night of excitement to back to their hometown fans.

Brothers, Chris and Jason Weinkauf are not only ARCA Midwest Touring Stars, but the two also know a thing or two about Marshfield Motor Speedway. Jason is a two-time track champion and the two have been racing at the track since the beginning of their careers. In 2011, Jason Weinkauf won the Midwest Tour event, leading all but the first 14 laps. Chris almost had it won the previous year, but ended up settling for second behind Chris Wimmer. The only non-local driver to win an ARCA Midwest Tour event at the speedway was Jonathan Eilen in 2012. In 2013 and 2014, a familiar name in Central Wisconsin topped the leader board. Skylar Holzhausen was victorious the last time the Midwest Tour raced at the venue in 2014. He is looking for his second consecutive win this Saturday night. His father, Steve won in 2013.

Fifteen year old Rookie of the Year contender, Derek Kraus also calls the track home and has seen victory lane a time or two, as has Natalie Decker. Kraus will be on the hunt to become the youngest Midwest Tour winner in the history of the series, while Decker has hopes to become the first female to win a Midwest Tour event. Plover’s, Jeremy Lepak will also join the field of local standouts and be making his charge for a Midwest Tour victory.

Two time series champion and current point leader, Ty Majeski is coming off a solid second place finish in the Dixieland 250 and will be looking for his fifth win on the circuit so far in 2016. Dalton Zehr is the most recent winner at Marshfield Motor Speedway and will not only be challenging for a Midwest Tour victory, but will also go one-on-one with Ty Majeski in a match race.

With a field filled with past and current hometown heroes, this Saturday night will be a true Mid-Summer Showdown. Gates open at 5:00pm and racing begins at 7:30. Be there!
