ARCA Midwest Tour Returns to Wisconsin International Raceway Saturday Aug 9th
by Kari Shear-Carlson
Aug 4th, 2014 – “I’m not going to think about the points. I’m just going to race all out and go from there.” These were the words of ARCA Midwest Touring Star Nathan Haseleu when asked what his focus will be this Saturday for ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment Calypso Lemonade 100 presented by Scag Power Equipment at Wisconsin International Raceway.
As the Tour rolls into WIR for the first time in a few years, Haseleu will continue to race as he has all season, with the intent to win. Ty Majeski has been hot on Nathan’s heels all season, as the two share the point lead with the final four races remaining.
“The way we’ve run this year, Ty’s been a little faster, but I need to race and not worry about taking chances because I’m focused on points or whatever. I just have to race hard, try to win, and go from there,” said Haseleu.
If you’ve been following Midwest racing, you know that Ty Majeski has been racing every chance he can get and has found success at WIR already this season. “He’s raced WIR a lot this year. I don’t expect those guys not to be fast. We just have to be faster than they are to win a championship,” said Haseleu.
In addition to the Midwest Touring Stars, Haseleu will also be up against some local competition. “Drivers like Terry Baldry and Jeff VanOudenhoven will definitely be tough. I’ve always liked racing against those guys. They will definitely be a factor,” said Haseleu.
The last time the Tour raced at the track, Haseleu came from the back of the field and rallied for a fourth place finish. “I like WIR a lot. I’ve raced there a lot in the past in some of the bigger, 250 and 300 lap races. I would put over 500 in laps in one year, so I got a lot of experience in a short amount of time.”
This Saturday, Haseleu and the rest of the teams will be putting on another 100 laps for the Calypso Lemonade 100 presented by Scag Power Equipment.
