Gajewski Welcomes the Challenge of the ARCA Midwest Tour To State Park Speedway

by Kari Shear-Carlson
May 8, 2015 – The 2014 State Park Speedway Champion, MG Gajewski, will join the Stars and Cars of the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment for the Cabin Fever 100 on Saturday, May 16th in Wausau, WI.

State Park Speedway produces some of the most exciting races on the ARCA Midwest Tour circuit. One of the biggest reasons for that is because of the local competition. When the Tour rolls into the track, the drivers know they don’t just have their usual suspects to worry about. They have to go up against the best of the best from State Park Speedway, like MG Gajewski.

ARCA Midwest Touring Star, Chris Weinkauf, knows just what’s it’s like to go up against likes of Gajewski. State Park Speedway is also Weinkauf’s home track so he grew up racing against him and enjoys seeing the tradition that drivers like Gajewski carry on.

“It’s always great to go back to your home track and race against some of the guys that you grew up racing against. Just like every track, State Park Speedway has had some great families throughout the years like the Gajewski’s. I know that VanDerGeest Racing is pretty proud of what MG accomplished last year,” said Weinkauf.

With local drivers as ARCA Midwest Touring Stars like Chris and Jason Weinkauf returning, Gajewski won’t be totally unfamiliar with the level of competition he’ll be up against.

“I don’t get much of a chance to go up against the Tour. I’ve raced this race for the last couple years. The guys have a little more experience and are a little more competitive, so it makes for a tighter field,” said Gajewski.

Guys like Gajewski may have a little bit of an edge in understanding the attitude of the track, but it isn’t something that will take the Tour drivers too long to figure out.

“When we run weekly it’s hard to run the second groove. You have to have a lot of patience because it’s a tighter track. Finesse’ is the key,” admitted Gajewski.

While he may only run with the ARCAMT drivers once a year, it doesn’t really affect his confidence. He sees the Cabin Fever 100 as a challenge.

“The confidence is there, you just know that you have tougher competition,” Gajewski added. “I’m looking forward to being competitive, finishing on the lead lap, and having a good race.”

MG Gajewski and the rest of the star-studded field for the Cabin Fever 100 will hit the track on Saturday, May 16th. For complete race day details, log on to arcamidwesttour.com.
