Excellent Oktoberfest Run for Jim Sauter, Jr.

Tomah, WI (10/6/2014)- With his own team and after running in a just a handful of shows this season, Jim Sauter, Jr. of Tomah, WI headed to LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway for the 45th running of their annual “Oktoberfest”. The popular October weekend event is capped off with a 200-lap showdown for the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment. No one was seemed a bit surprised that the Sauter name was up front all day and in the end, Jim Sauter, Jr. finished in the seventh spot behind his brother Tim, and nephew, Travis Sauter, who finished sixth and first respectively.

Following a 14th place qualifying effort on Saturday, J. Sauter lined up in the 14th spot for the 15-lap “Fast Dash”. He drove his way toward the front to finish fifth, which dictated where he would start in the 200-lap main on Sunday.

J. Sauter patiently worked toward the front and drove up as high as third at one point. He drifted back to sixth prior to the halfway break and when green flag racing resumed he remained in the top ten and crossed the stripe with a seventh place finish.

“Thanks to all of my crew and sponsors, especially Willie May”, noted J. Sauter, who made his very first 200 start.

“We made a wedge adjustment at the halfway break and went in the wrong direction. But I couldn’t be more pleased with our run in only the fourth start this season. This is definitely my favorite race to date.”

The weekend was filled with cold temperatures and even snow flurries, which didn’t seem to phase and of the racers and their loyal fans. Ironically, Sauter’s #45 Super Late Model, was named “Elsa” by his oldest daughter and the faithful Frozen ride held up to her name.

Although a win would have made the 2014 season one to remember for Jim Sauter, Jr., he’s happy to be able what he and his family have done for decades- be surrounded by good people and be successful at area short tracks around the region and nation.

Even though the victory that Jim Jr. was hoping for didn’t happen in this famed showdown, he’s happy with qualifying for the show and bringing his car home in one piece and a top ten finish was just a bonus for him and also for all of his supporters and sponsors, which include Don’s Auto Truck Center, Davis Auto Sales, Sauter Floor Covering, Gawronski Signs, Dean’s Satellite and Security, Global Cleaning Service, Shawn Rentmeester Trucking, Sheer Bliss Indoor Beach, Next Generation Tattoo, Wounded Warrior Project, Highline Motorsports and Tyler Jett Motorsports Marketing.
