ARCA Midwest Tour Schedule Heats Up: Dells Raceway Park This Saturday Night for the Lester Buildings 100

by Kari Shear-Carlson
June 23, 2014 – When the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment heads to Dells Raceway Park this Saturday, June 28th for the Lester Buildings 100, the points battle will be the hot topic.

After an impressive night at Grundy County Speedway this past Friday, Ty Majeski closed in on current point leader, Nathan Haseleu, closing the gap between the two to just 15 points.

Majeski captured his second career VDL Fuel Systems and B&B Racing Engines fast qualifier award turning a 15.042. He backed it up when he charged through the field and finished a hard-fought second in the 100 lap feature behind first time ARCA Midwest Tour winner, Chris Weinkauf.

Orland Park, IL driver, Anthony Danta qualified second with a 15.148 and ARCA Midwest Touring Star James Swan was third with a 15.186.

Chris Weinkauf led the field to green for the 100 lap event and never looked back, also leading the field to the checkered flag. Weinkauf and Nick Barstad started on the front row after winning the odd and even heat races which set the line-up for the feature event.

Current point leader, Nathan Haseleu had a rough night but was still able to maintain his point lead by 15 over Rookie of the Year point leader, Ty Majeski. Jonathan Eilen, who finished third, just a nose shy of Majeski on Friday night, is currently 41 points back and Weinkauf is only four points behind Eilen. Cardell Potter rounds out the top five in points.

When the stars of the ARCA Midwest Tour head into Dells Raceway Park this Saturday anything is possible. Last year’s race was never short of action from green to checkered. Nathan Haseleu had a great run and came up third last year, so he is definitely going to be a favorite going into the night. Travis Sauter will also return who dominated last year’s event until a mechanical failure knocked him out with only 24 laps to go.

Make your plans now to head out to Dells Raceway Park on Saturday night. This event may be the turning point of the season and you won’t want to miss it.
