Salem, Indiana (June 14, 2021): 14-year-old Kalamazoo racer Michael Brooks led all 25 laps to get his first ever Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models feature win Saturday afternoon at Anderson Speedway. The event was the second event of the season for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models and the first of two series events at that track in 2021.
The Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models is in their third season focusing on a youth movement for short track stock car racing that saw 10 to 15-year-old drivers compete amongst themselves for both experience and recognition in full size late models with an economical drive train and suspension alternatives.
12-year-old Proctorville, Ohio native Carson Lucas was the Fast Qualifier for the event. 12-year-old Austin, Indiana native Kaden White was the winner of the eight-lap heat race, his first ever heat race win with the series.
Brooks took full advantage of his pole position starting spot for the 25 lap feature, grabbing the lead at the drop of the green flag. Lucas would jump in behind Brooks and was able to stay with Brooks for several laps before falling back. 14-year-old Mason Surgener and White would stay nose to tail for third and fourth.
Brooks would go on to get the win by almost two seconds over Salem Speedway event winner Lucas. Surgener would finish in third in his first series event of the season. White would finish in fourth in only his second ever event in a late model.
“It’s great to get our first series feature win today,” remarked an excited Brooks in victory lane. “I have to thank my dad, who really works hard on this car and my family and team. I also must thank our sponsors, without their support we wouldn’t be here racing. I won a heat race here at Anderson last year, I like the track and felt like we would be good here!”
The next Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models event will be this Saturday at Flat Rock Speedway. More information on the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models is available at www.cra-racing.com.
