Entry List for Saturday’s Bev Aschenbrenner Memorial 100
This Saturday night, the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment will make their annual visit to Marshfield Motor Speedway in Marshfield, Wisconsin. The event will not only be the 120th event in the series that started in 2007, but it will honor a lady who was not a just a race fan but was part of the unique character of the racetrack, Bev Aschenbrenner.
Sadly, it was on June 6, 2016 that Bev left us after a car accident while coming home from work.
It is only appropriate that on the anniversary of her passing that we all celebrate her life the best way she would have wanted us too, have a race at Marshfield Motor Speedway. The track where her family got together every Saturday night at their special place between turn four and the start/finish line.
Bev was well known with everyone in racing from promoters, drivers, teams and her fellow fans. She would always participate in contests to pick a driver for the features and always walked the pits with her husband Robert afterwards handing out hugs to anyone and everyone that needed that special embrace.
Not only, did her and Robert along with their son Brandon attend races at Marshfield, they always traveled to many race events around the Midwest including many ARCA Midwest Tour events.
Bev also enjoyed many other sports including cheering for the Green Bay Gamblers hockey team to cheering on the Stratford wrestling team every year at the State competition at the Kohl Center. This writer was part of a tradition of meeting up with Bev, Robert, and Brandon for a late dinner on the Friday night of the wrestling tournament at the Longhorn Steakhouse in Madison where she controlled the conversation of sharing stories and asking about family and racing.
For many, she was the mother or grandmother at the track when someone needed that person at a certain time. If you didn’t leave the track without a hug from Bev, your day wasn’t complete.
The Stars and Cars of the ARCA Midwest Tour will remember Bev Aschenbrenner this Saturday night with a 100-lap event in her honor around the half-mile oval.
Fan gates will open at 5pm with qualifying at 5:05pm. Racing will get underway at 7pm with the Mid-American Series and Pure Stocks also in action.
An autograph session will follow qualifying in the grandstands.
Make your plans to attend this Saturday night and join us as we celebrate the life of Bev Aschenbrenner with a great night of racing.
