(TOLEDO, Ohio – January 7, 2014) – The Automobile Racing Club of America has renewed its agreement with two of its regional touring series partners, the ARCA Midwest Tour and ARCA/CRA Super Series, each for a three-year extension period. Ron Drager, ARCA President, first announced the extension of the existing agreements at the 2013 Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Indianapolis.
“We’ve developed a solid working relationship with everyone at the CRA Super Series and Midwest Tour these past couple seasons,” said ARCA President Ron Drager. “Since all parties involved are pleased with our progress and direction to date, we wanted to make a longer term commitment — through 2016 — to give us a stronger platform for what we feel we can accomplish together.”
The partnership provides licensed participants ARCA sanctioning body member benefits, including a $500,000 Participant Accident medical insurance policy. ARCA will continue to provide public relations, race operations, and marketing support to both series, while expanding and strengthening an already strong developmental racing base.
The ARCA Midwest Tour, based in Lake Geneva, Wis., was founded in 2006 by short track racing veterans Tim Olson and Steve Einhaus and was formerly known as the ASA Midwest Tour. The tour races at several well-known speedways of the upper Midwest, including the Milwaukee Mile, Elko Speedway, LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway and Madison International Speedway.
“Our relationship with ARCA has truly been amazing in the first year,” said Tim Olson, ARCA Midwest Tour president. “We have established ourselves with an organization that has tremendous value in the short track nation while helping the Midwest Tour to become a better series each and every day.”
The ARCA/CRA Super Series, in its 18th season, has been under the ARCA sanctioning body since 2012. The ‘Crown Jewels’ of the series are the Winchester 400 at Winchester Speedway, the Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway, and the Berlin 251 at Berlin Raceway. The series is owned and managed by industry veterans Glenn Luckett and R.J. Scott.
“We were very happy to extend our agreement with ARCA,” said Luckett, the Director and Managing Partner of CRA. “Working with ARCA the last two years has been very beneficial for the ARCA/CRA Super Series. We look forward to continuing and building our relationship with ARCA over the next three years.”
In addition to providing support for race operations, the partnership also puts the champion of the ARCA/CRA Super Series and the ARCA Midwest Tour into the seat of an ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards car at a special test session at Daytona International Speedway. Called the Road to Daytona, the unique experience is made possible through Roush Yates Performance Products, Hoosier Tire and Fast Track Racing.
The 2014 ARCA/CRA Super Series and ARCA Midwest Tour season will begin together on April 11-12 at Toledo Speedway for the second annual 7-Up 150 Border Wars race. The race puts both series on the same track together. A similar event is planned for May 25-26 at Illiana Motor Speedway.
“We have reached some milestones by working together to build a strong partnership with the ARCA/CRA Super Series under the same banner and at the same time providing a better platform for the future of short track racing in general,” Olson said. “We are excited about our long term partnership with everyone at ARCA and we look forward to kicking things off at Toledo in April.”
