Oregon, WI- The ARCA Midwest Tour released their 2019 schedule today which will feature ten stops for the ‘Stars and Cars’ at eight facilities in Wisconsin and Illinois.
The season will begin on Sunday afternoon May 5 at Madison International Speedway for the 200 lap, $10,000 to win Joe Shear Classic. The past two seasons, race fans have flocked to ‘Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile’ and been rewarded with tremendous battles, last year a first time winner, Austin Nason, wrestled his way into victory lane. A busy month of May will see the Super Late Model heavy hitters bring in the new season at State Park Speedway in Wausau on Saturday May 18, Andrew Morrissey captured the checkered flag in last year’s Cabin Fever 100, a race that went green the entire distance.
Race fans are going to be treated to a double header weekend over Memorial Day. Paul Shafer, Jr will lead the charge of Touring Stars at Jefferson Speedway for the Salute the Troops 100 on Saturday May 25, a race in which the young Indiana pilot recorded his first career Tour win. What was a traditional stop for the former ARTGO Challenge Series returns on Monday afternoon May 27 in a new Triple 50 format featuring the top Fox River Racing Club drivers in one feature, the Midwest Tour in a 50 lap contest and then the top finishers from each feature will fill a 50 lap finale at Wisconsin International Raceway.
The fifth stop of 2019 will see racing return to The Milwaukee Mile at Wisconsin State Fair Park. For the first time since 2014 the Super Late Models will be back in action at ‘America’s Legendary Oval’, on Father’s Day Sunday afternoon June 16. Joining the Midwest Tour will be the Midwest Trucks, Mid-American Stock Cars and Upper Midwest Vintage Series. Two weeks later the annual Kar Korner All-Star 100 will take place at Rockford Speedway. 2018 winner Austin Nason outdueled the field to record the win at his home track. The 2019 version will play out under the lights on Saturday night June 29.
Tuesday night August 6 marks the second stop of the season at Wisconsin International Raceway, this time for the $10,000 to win Dixieland 250. Mississippi’s Chase Purdy topped the Midwest’s finest in last season’s 250 contest, which is traditionally held the first Tuesday of August. Another new stop for the Midwest Tour will take place on Friday night August 16 at Madison International Speedway for the annual running of the Howie Lettow Classic, a 100 lap race in honor of the legendary short track crew chief. The month of August will come to a close on Saturday night August 31 at Dells Raceway Park. Former NASCAR Truck Champion worked his way to the front last year for a highly contested win against former Tour Champion Jonathan Eilen.
Championship Sunday of the 50th annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend will crown the 2019 ARCA Midwest Tour Champion. The popular 200 lap contest on Sunday October 6 promises to be the best yet at Fest. 2018 Oktoberfest Champion Andrew Morrissey will lead the contingent of Touring Stars against the best of the Midwest.
