Seymour, Wisconsin star set to return south after win at Speedweeks
Seymour, Wisconsin (Wednesday, March 4, 2015): For 20-year-old Ty Majeski, the 2014 racing season was a breakout year for the rising star from Seymour, Wisconsin. Majeski won both the 2014 ARCA Midwest Tour Championship as well as the Rookie of the Year title by way of two event wins. One of those coming in the ARCA Midwest Tour VS ARCA/CRA Super Series combination race on Memorial Day Monday, May 26th at Illiana Motor Speedway (IN). His second triumph occurred at Hawkeye Downs Speedway (IA) on July 5th.
The season ended at the prestigious Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway (FL) where he finished 19th after starting 32nd. The 2015 campaign for the Ty Majeski Racing Team began where the 2014 season ended, in the Sunshine State of Florida. The 49th Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing was at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) from February 13-21st where the opportunity to race for seven nights over a nine night span was too tempting to pass up. Majeski came away with one Feature Win on night #2 after starting deep in the field in 23rd to go with two top fives and four top 10s against a stellar field of cars throughout the week on his way to a ninth place finish in the final Speedweeks points.
“My real goal at New Smyrna was to get a win. I know what our team can accomplish and I had confidence that when we showed up, people would remember us.” Stated Majeski recently after getting back home from Florida. “I also wanted to get my name out there while getting some solid seat time. I have never raced 7 races in 9 days. I knew it would be a challenge but I really looked forward to it. As for the win, I knew we had a good piece. Even though we started towards the back, the car felt quick. I know I took some chances but they paid off. Opportunities to win at an event like Speedweeks are hard to come by. We knew we had a good car and I went for it.”
Majeski briefly held the points lead in the Super Late Models division at the World Series for a total of two nights. Then on night #8, a hard crash ended his chances at the Speedweeks title and forced the team to head home a day earlier than planned. “We had a fast car in that race. We were in position to extend our points lead. Unfortunately in racing, there are things that are out of your control.” He offered. “We had a Left Rear Trailing Arm Bracket break. I tried to save it, but that’s a fatal failure in the car. We backed it into the wall and that was it for the weekend for us.”
The next event on the 2015 schedule for the Wisconsin driver will feature one more trip south, this time to the 4/10s (0.400) mile semi-banked paved oval of South Alabama Speedway in Opp, Alabama on March 13-15th. The Southern Super Series kicks off their 2015 racing season with the 39th running of the Rattler 250. “I am confident that we can carry our momentum from Speedweeks into the rattler. Even though we broke at Speedweeks, we still had a solid week there. I think we left our mark. There is some great competition registered for the Rattler. I’m looking forward to being competitive there.”
After the Rattler, all focus will shift towards the defense of his ARCA Midwest Tour title beginning on May 3rd at Madison International Speedway (WI) in the running of the Joe Shear Classic 100. “It’s a great series and really well run. We also plan on running the Slinger Nationals and the Red, White and Blue series at Wisconsin International Raceway as well. We are also looking at possibly the TUNDRA series again and maybe the ARCA/CRA Super Series JEGS Triple Crown Series shows. We are still looking to see how everything fits in, so it’s all up in the air and sponsor driven.” He ended.
Majeski began his career in 2004 in the Go-Kart ranks and from then until 2009 racked up six National championships as well as five Wisconsin local racing titles and three state championships. In 2010 at 15 years old, the move up to Limited Late Models was next for his racing career. In 2011, he toured with the Big 8 Late Model Series and captured the Rookie of the Year title while scoring three Feature Wins including the Big 8 portion of the National Short Track Championships at Rockford Speedway (IL). He also collected one Fast Qualifier Award as well.
A move up to Super Late Models came about in 2012 and he continued to improve throughout the 2013 racing season including winning a Fast Qualifier Award in an ARCA Midwest Tour race at Marshfield Motor Speedway (WI). Also in 2013 he broke through for three wins during the prestigious Oktoberfest Race weekend at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway (WI) and during the year, he ran 27 total events in four different cars with four different owners.
Majeski is also one of the most successful drivers in iRacing, the on-line simulator. In 279 career starts he has 250 wins with 273 fast times and has won four out of a possible five championships. He is the top ranked Oval iRacer in the world and has raced against such big names as David Ragan, Brad Keselowski, Carl Edwards, Joey Logano, Cale Gale, Timmy Hill, Ross Kenseth and others
