Salem, Indiana (June 21, 2021): 12-year-old Proctorville, Ohio racer Carson Lucas got the lead with two laps to go in the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models feature Saturday evening at Flat Rock Speedway and went on to get his second series win of the season. The event was the third event of the season for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models and the first time the series had an event at Flat Rock Speedway.
The Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models is in their third season focusing on a youth movement for short track stock car racing that saw 10 to 15-year-old drivers compete amongst themselves for both experience and recognition in full size late models with an economical drive train and suspension alternatives.
Lucas was the Fast Qualifier for the second event in a row.12-year-old Austin, Indiana native Kaden White was the winner of the eight-lap heat race, his second ever heat race win with the series this season.
White and Lucas battled hard throughout the feature event for first place with White leading the first 14 laps of the event. Lucas made slight contact with White, spinning him out with just a handful of laps to go. On the restart after the caution, Lucas again applied a lot of pressure to White, White got on the gas a little two hard coming out of turn four and looped the car around causing the second yellow flag of the event. Lucas got the lead on the side-by-side restart and never looked back in grabbing the checkers in his second all-time series win.
“It feels really good to get this win today at Flat Rock Speedway,” remarked an excited Lucas in victory lane. “I want to apologize to the 12 car for getting into him and spinning him out, I was just trying to make a clean pass. I must thank my parents and everyone who helped with this car. I also must thank all my sponsors for their support, we had several sponsor representatives here today at the track, it’s great to get a win for them!”
